Kelly Clarkson went out on a high note in the final taping of her talk show.
For her final “Kellyoke,” the singer/host and her band, My Band Y’all, performed “Golden” from Kpop Demon Hunters (including the original Korean lyrics that are part of the song). The show’s final taping took place Monday.
According to the official YouTube page for The Kelly Clarkson Show, “Golden” is the most requested cover song of all time for Clarkson.
According to E!, the final episode was themed “Kelly Clarkson by Request,” which found Clarkson also performing her own songs, including “Since U Been Gone,” “Sober” and “Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You),” at the request of fans and audience members.
“From the very first episode, music has been a cornerstone of this show,” Clarkson said during the last episode. “We’ve done over 1,000 Kellyokes, talked with hundreds ofguests about songsthat inspire their work and about everyday people who have the power of music transform their lives and the lives of those in their communities.”
Her kids — River, 11, andRemington, 10, whom she shares with late exBrandon Blackstock — also were present for the final taping, and she invited them onstage with her, E! reported.
“I loved being in your homes each day,” Clarkson told the audience during the taping. “I love seeing my kiddos grow up on this show as well. I have immeasurable gratitude for everyone: the crew, the band, everybody here — thank you so much. This has been an incredible opportunity. Thank you for connecting with us.”
In February, Clarkson and NBCUniversal announced thatThe Kelly Clarkson Showwould end after its current season. Production on season seven continued as planned, with episodes airing through the fall.
Later that month, Clarkson opened up about her “hard” decision to end the show after seven years.
“Well, I think everybody probably gets the timing, but … yeah, our family life, the dynamic changed a bit and it has changed for a minute now,” Clarkson said in an interview with NBC’s Today. “I think it’s just — you’ve got kids, we’ve all got kids, right? — it’s one of those things when you kinda start seeing life as how precious it is, too.”
In July, Clarkson released a new single, “I’d Be Lying.”
“Golden,” meanwhile, became the first K-pop songto ever win an Oscar, for best original song, earlier this year. The honor went to EJAE, Mark Sonnenblick, Joong Gyu Kwak, Yu Han Lee, Hee Dong Nam, Jeong Hoon Seon and Teddy Park for their music and lyrics.
