Nigerian Afrobeats star, Davido has added another major achievement to his career after winning Album of the Year at the 2026 African Muzik Magazine Awards, AFRIMMA, with his latest project, 5IVE.
The award was announced on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, through AFRIMMA’s official Instagram page, following the awards and music festival held on September 12 at Annette Strauss Square in Dallas, Texas.
Davido entered the ceremony as the most nominated artiste of the year, earning five nominations across major categories.
Davido beats Burna Boy, Asake, Omah Lay
The singer’s 5IVE emerged ahead of a competitive list of nominees, including Burna Boy’s No Sign of Weakness, Asake’s M$NEY, Omah Lay’s Clarity of Mind and Black Sherif’s Top of The Morning Era.
Other nominees were Tyla for A-Pop, Lloyiso for Never Thought I Could, Leigh-Anne for My Ego Told Me To and Himra for SORRY I’M BAD.
Beyond the album category, Davido was also nominated for Artist of the Year, Best Male West Africa and the Crossing Boundaries With Music Award.

The 2026 AFRIMMA nominations reflected the growing reach of African music, with artistes from West Africa, South Africa, the UK and other parts of the diaspora represented across major categories.
Davido’s Album of the Year victory with 5IVE places the Nigerian star among the major winners from this year’s ceremony and further highlights the international recognition of African music.
