A Nigerian mother has shared a humorous story about how her husband’s unique approach to disciplining their son has been copied by the young boy.
According to the mother, her husband does not believe in flogging their son whenever he misbehaves. Instead, he created a designated “Naughty Corner” where the boy is sent to sit and reflect on his actions.
‘Go and Sit There’
The mother explained that whenever their son misbehaves, his father calmly instructs him to go to the designated corner.
“My husband doesn’t believe in fl0gg!ng every time.
“Instead, he created what I call the Naughty Corner.
“Anytime our son misbehaves, he’ll calmly say: ‘Go and sit there.’
“And off he goes,” she wrote.
She explained that the punishment involves taking away some of the boy’s usual activities.
“No TV. No playing. No moving around.
“Just him alone in one corner of the parlour, reflecting on the choices that led him there,” she stated.
Son Copies His Father
The mother revealed that their son has a toy rabbit, which he has now begun disciplining using the same method his father uses on him.
“The funniest part is that our son has a toy rabbit, and somehow, he has also adopted his father’s disciplinary methods.
“Anytime the toy ‘misbehaves,’ he sends it to the Naughty Corner too,” she wrote.
According to her, the toy is made to sit in its own corner as punishment.
“The toy will sit in its own corner, serving its own punishment,” she added.
‘We Have Two Fathers in This House’
The mother said she found the situation amusing, particularly because the child appears to have reproduced his father’s parenting method while playing with his toy.
“So in these pictures, two offenders are separately serving their sentences,” she wrote.
She jokingly concluded that the household now has two fathers because the son has begun acting like a parent to his toy.
“At this point, I think we have two fathers in this house:
“My husband is the father to our son…
“And our son is the father to his rabbit toy.
“See how parenting methods are being passed down from generation to generation…” she stated.
