A Nigerian man living in the United Kingdom has reportedly been cut off by his mother and elder brother after awarding a ₦140 million building contract to another engineer instead of his sibling.
The story was shared by an X user, @GloriousGod01, who narrated how the disagreement allegedly escalated after the man chose not to award the contract to his elder brother, who is also an engineer.
According to the post, the man wanted to begin construction on his house and obtained a quotation from an engineer, who estimated the project would cost about ₦140 million, excluding workmanship.
He later contacted his elder brother to find out how much he would charge to handle the project.
Elder Brother Quotes ₦150m for House Project
The X user explained that the elder brother quoted ₦150 million for the construction.
When the younger brother asked about his expected profit, the elder brother reportedly explained that he usually made between ₦10 million and ₦15 million per project.
However, because they were family, he offered to reduce his profit to between ₦3 million and ₦5 million.
The younger brother reportedly agreed, requested his brother’s account details and transferred ₦3 million to him.
He subsequently decided to award the contract to the first engineer instead.
Elder Brother Allegedly Destroys Foundation
The decision reportedly angered the elder brother, who took the issue to their mother after discovering that his younger sibling had chosen another contractor.
The younger brother explained that he did not want to mix family relationships with business. He also pointed out that the ₦3 million he had paid his brother was already 60 per cent of the profit the older sibling had said he would make from the project.
However, the disagreement allegedly escalated when the selected engineer arrived at the site with his workers to begin construction.
The elder brother reportedly stormed the site with a group of thugs and destroyed the foundation.
Man Has Elder Brother Arrested
Following the incident, the younger brother reportedly had his elder sibling arrested and detained for three days.
The X user claimed that the elder brother did not return to the construction site after his release and stayed away until the building was completed.
Mother Reportedly Stops Taking His Calls
The disagreement allegedly affected the man’s relationship with his family, as his mother reportedly stopped answering his calls.

“My guy who lives in the UK wanted to start his building project. He got a quotation from an engineer and everything came to about 140 million naira, excluding workmanship.
“His elder brother is also an engineer so he reached out to him. The elder brother quoted 150 million naira. When asked about his profit margin, he said 10 to 15 million naira per project but would take only 3 to 5 million since it was family.
“My friend said okay, requested his account details and sent him 3 million naira.
“Then he gave the contract to the first engineer.
“When the elder brother found out, he reported it to their mother. My friend told them plainly that he did not want to mix family with business and that the 3 million naira was already 60% of what his brother said he would have made.
“The day the engineer arrived at the site with his crew to begin work, the elder brother showed up with thugs and destroyed the foundation.
“My friend had him arrested for 3 days without food.
“He never went near the site again until the building was completed.
“His mother has refused to take his calls since then.
“He is opening the house tomorrow. His elder brother and mother have both cut him off.
“Above all, love God.”
