The phenomenon of series being un-renewed is an established one at this point. Somewhat newer, and on the other end of the spectrum, lie shows that are un-limited. Case in point: The Beast in Me, which was conceived, executed and won Emmys as a limited series. Now, though, Netflix has ordered a second season of the show, with Claire Danes set to reprise her role and showrunner Howard Gordon also returning. Gordon (Homeland, 24) has also signed an overall deal with Netflix, under which he’ll develop new series through his Teakwood Lane Productions. “We always told ourselves we’d only do…
“What are the odds that we’re in base reality?” Elon Musk asks rhetorically. “Like, we are in a simulation.”So opens the new trailer for Musk, Alex Gibney’s trippy-but-deadly-serious documentary about the world’s richest and potentially most powerful man. Musk believes, or says he believes, that everything around us may be essentially a video game, so Gibney responds in kind, turning his unwilling subject into a digital avatar and then having him mouth words he actually said. You don’t see that avatar in the trailer, but you see plenty else: Musk peddling phantom visions of Mars, Musk’s Tesla allegedly responsible for the…

The New York Times has been sued by Florida’s attorney general, who’s representing shareholders in a lawsuit accusing the company’s board of directors of failing to exercise proper oversight of editorial standards. The petition, filed on Wednesday in New York state court, alleges that the Times‘ credibility has been undermined by anti-Israel bias in the publication’s coverage of the war in Gaza. It demands access to internal documents in an attempt to uncover the absence of journalistic standards that have been “weaponized within the company to serve the personal agendas of unchecked editors.” “When you’re a news agency, your credibility…
Mariska Hargitay and Christopher Meloni are gearing up to reunite on the small screen, Law & Order style. The Emmy winner teased Meloni’s return to Special Victims Unit with two Instagram posts; Tuesday night, she initially shared a photo of herself on-set with an unidentified bald man, whose back was turned towards her. “WHO DAT,” she wrote, although all savvy Law & Order fans knew it was Meloni. Her second Instagram post was a selfie with the Organized Crime actor, seemingly confirming that he’d popped up in the 600th episode of Law & Order: SVU. “Happy 600..” she wrote in…
