There were many — many — predictions about which luxe label Taylor Swift would choose when she married Travis Kelce on July 3. She wore a striped Ralph Lauren dress for her engagement photos. She has also worn gowns by Monse and Oscar de la Renta, both designed by her friends Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia, who recently departed Oscar to focus on Monse. Other contenders floated by fashion obsessives included Stella McCartney, a close friend of Swift’s for a decade who has dressed her for many major occasions; Gucci, a label Swift has long favored for black tie; Louis Vuitton by Nicolas Ghesquière; and Givenchy by Sarah Burton.
But The Hollywood Reporter, thanks to some very well informed sources, called it: Dior Couture by Jonathan Anderson.
Of course, we had our doubters, Page Six chief among them. “[THR] claimedSwift’s “winning dress” might be a custom Dior Haute Couture design by Jonathan Anderson, noting that A-listers like Jennifer Lawrence, Rihanna, Charlize Theron and Anya Taylor-Joy regularly wear his work,” wrote Page Six‘s style editor, adding, “Our tortured poet might well tie the knot in Dior —fashion fans would be thrilled! — but I don’t think Anderson’s the most likely man for the job. If I’m wrong about this, consider it proof of Swift’s endless ability to surprise even her most devoted fans.”
Well, surprise!
We do not yet have details — or photos — of Swift’s actual bridal gown. But Anderson’s spring/summer 2026 Dior Haute Couture collection, shown in January as his first couture outing for the house, offered plenty of clues: white gowns with bubble hems, long white peplum dresses and even white ruffled minis.
The Northern Irish designer’s second Dior Haute Couture collection, fall 2026-27, will be shown on Monday in Paris. It will be interesting to see whether any of the looks in that collection echo the style of Swift’s still-unseen gown.
Anderson also designs Dior’s men’s collections. His spring 2027 menswear show, presented a few weeks ago in Paris, included a softer take on black tie, with loose trousers and long frock coats. Still, Swift and Kelce’s wedding looks may not closely resemble anything Anderson has shown publicly. The bride, the groom and Swift’s longtime stylist Joseph Cassell are understood to have worked closely with Anderson and the Dior ateliers on Avenue Montaigne in Paris, meaning both looks could be entirely custom creations rather than riffs on recent runway pieces.
For Anderson, the gown represents a major bridal debut at Dior. He has only been at the LVMH-owned house for about a year, and dressing the most famous bride on the planet is not a bad way to announce a new couture era. Wedding looks worn by iconic women have a way of shaping bridal style for decades. Bianca Jagger’s white Yves Saint Laurent suit remains a reference point more than 50 years later; Dua Lipa recently nodded to the look in Schiaparelli. More modern celebrity brides have also turned to major houses: Gwyneth Paltrow, for her wedding to Brad Falchuk, and Anne Hathaway both wore Valentino, while Priyanka Chopra and Lily Collins were married in Ralph Lauren.
Did Swift change into something shorter for dancing? Let’s hope we find out soon. On Friday night, after the couple tied the knot, a brief release went out — with no photos — announcing Dior Couture by Jonathan Anderson as the choice for both Swift and Kelce.
Swift accessorized her Dior Couture gown with custom Christian Louboutin shoes and Cartier jewels. It would not be surprising to see all three brands enjoy a Swift-adjacent bump in the coming months. Dior, Louboutin and Cartier are already global luxury names, of course, but the Taylor effect has a way of turning even legacy brands into search-term explosions. Dior and Louboutin also have luxury beauty lines, while Dior and Cartier have major fragrance businesses.
Rob Shuter, author of the Naughty But Nice Substack, reports that Swift and Kelce have already been house hunting in Manhattan. The couple have been staying at Swift’s sprawling Tribeca digs, but reportedly want a home they create together from the ground up.
As for the wedding party, there were no bridesmaid dresses to decode. Swift’s brother, Austin Swift, served as man of honor, while Kelce’s brother, Jason Kelce, was best man.
