According to data obtained by Fox News Digital from the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, Tim Curry died of coronary artery disease on August 25 at the age of 80.
Curry’s stroke and kidney cancer, according to the Department of Public Health, were also contributing factors to his death.
According to the document, Curry never had surgery for a stroke, kidney malignancy, or coronary artery disease.
Curry’s death was confirmed by his publisher, Jimmy Franco, Senior Director of Press at Grand Central Publishing.
“Yes, it is true and very sad indeed,” Franco stated that he does not have a remark to make at this moment.
The Los Angeles Police Department verified to Fox News Digital that officers arrived at approximately 11:20 p.m.
Tuesday to a death investigation involving a male in his 80s at home. No foul play is suspected.
Tim Curry on screen in ‘The Rocky Horror Picture Show’
Curry became a pop-culture phenomenon after playing Frank-N-Furter in the 1975 film “The Rocky Horror Picture Show,” having originated the part in the original 1973 London stage version before moving it to Broadway and the movie.
The cult favorite, which also starred Susan Sarandon, Barry Bostwick, and Meat Loaf, was known for midnight screenings, audience participation, and songs like “The Time Warp.”
Curry is also recognized for playing Pennywise in the 1990 miniseries “It,” Wadsworth in “Clue,” the concierge in “Home Alone 2: Lost in New York,” and the wicked Cardinal Richelieu in “The Three Musketeers.”
His career encompassed theater, film, and television. Curry has received three Tony Award nominations for “My Favorite Year,” “Amadeus,” and “Spamalot.” He won a Daytime Emmy Award and was nominated for a Primetime Emmy.
In 2012, the British actor suffered a massive stroke, leaving him wheelchair-bound. He continued to engage in voice acting before returning to live-action film in 2024 with “Stream.”
