Alanis Morissette is reportedly suing her former tour manager, alleging that Keren Urinov led a “calculated blackmail campaign” against her, per People.
The “Ironic” singer filed the suit on Tuesday, stemming from her working relationship with Urinov in 2025.
“Plaintiff Alanis Morissette is the victim of a calculated blackmail campaign orchestrated by a disgruntled former tour manager,” the lawsuit reads, per People. “Morissette will not agree to work with an incompetent blackmailer for the next 15 years or pay her a ransom under the gun.”
According to the documents obtained by the outlet, Morissette’s legal team alleges that Urinov was “flagged for inspection and detained at a U.K. airport” when she was traveling with the singer to Spain. Urinov told Morissette and her team she was arrested and authorities issued a seizure notice, alleging there was marijuana and xylazine in her bag; she showed officials her Israeli medical marijuana license and was released, per People.
The suit claims that the tour manager and her own legal team sent Morissette “increasingly extortionate” letters, where she threatened to sue. Urinov allegedly told the seven-time Grammy winner that she could “end to the matter”with a 15-year, full-time employment contract comprised of “an income equivalent to that of a tour director with annual increases and bonuses.”
After Morissette did not comply with the “brazen demands,” Urinov and her lawyer allegedly sent her a letter “implying she would accuse Morissette of drug trafficking,” People added. The singer is suing on allegations of civil extortion, fraud and negligent misrepresentation.
Morissette was previously embezzled by her former manager Jonathan Todd Schwartz. He admitted to embezzling more than $7 million from Morissette and other celebrity clients in 2017. Schwartz penned an apology essay for The Hollywood Reporter at the time, where he wrote, “To say I am incredibly ashamed and disappointed in myself is an understatement.”
