A Nigerian lady has recounted how her friend allegedly blocked and insulted her after she gave her ₦100,000 from a ₦500,000 cash gift she received from a man at a club.
According to the lady, her friend followed her to the club because she was bored but sat far away from her after they arrived.
She revealed that an anonymous man later sent her a bundle of cash worth ₦500,000, adding that she believed he did not notice her friend and sent the money because he found her attractive.
The lady disclosed that her friend subsequently began asking for a share of the money. She initially asked her to wait until they got home but later decided to send her ₦100,000.
Narrating the incident, she said:
“Then I sent her ₦100k. The next thing she said was, ‘Just ₦100k in bundle of money?’ And I’m like, ‘₦100k is something. Why are you angry over something like that?’ This girl blocked me and started insulting me.”
She explained that she had not even spent any of the money herself and only gave her friend the ₦100,000 to have something to hold onto for the meantime.
However, the friend was reportedly unhappy with the amount and blocked her before proceeding to insult her.
The lady expressed surprise at her friend’s reaction, noting that she had voluntarily shared part of the cash despite not being obligated to do so.
Her account has prompted discussion about whether friends should expect to receive a portion of money or gifts given specifically to one person.
