A video showing Nollywood actor Emeka Ike breaking down in tears while mourning the death of veteran actor Olu Jacobs has gone viral on social media.

In the footage, Emeka Ike is seen visibly emotional and weeping while standing in front of a gate as he reflects on the death of the legendary actor.

Speaking through his tears, the actor expressed regret over not seeing Jacobs before his death, saying, “I’ve not seen him till he died.”

His emotional reaction appeared to stem from the fact that he had not recently been with the veteran actor or had the opportunity to share his final moments with him.

Emeka Ike and Olu Jacobs worked together on several Nollywood productions during their careers, making the late actor’s death particularly emotional for his colleague.

The video has since sparked mixed reactions on social media, with some users sympathising with Emeka Ike’s grief, while others questioned why the moment was recorded and shared publicly.

Public reactions

Nasiru Aliu wrote: “I blieve it is both gracious and deeply relieving for a grown man to cry freely when a loved one is lost.A few years ago, wen I lost my dearest second-born son just days before his thirteenth birthday, I tried with everything in me to let the tears come. but they would not I had to bottle the grief, bcos the rest of my family needed to lean on my courage.”

Kingsley wrote: “Una sabi act. inasmuch as u missed someone does it warrant recording oneself crying,in reality assuming someone recorded it unknowningly personally I won’t allow it shared.”

Bol wrote: “Why are you filming someone mourning? And why does it have to even make news that another celebrity is crying for the dead? Nawa o.”

Enogie of Aboh wrote: “How many times did he make a video with him when he was sick? Fake tears for the camera.”

Ferdinand wrote: “Sometimes I just don’t understand these people,is this really necessary? Getting to cry or staging it, when he was sick all this while how many people visited him? Hypocrisy of the highest order.”

Ugwu wrote: “Hope Emeka Ike visited supported him while he was alive? If he didn’t, then his tears is meaningless. Show me Love when I’m alive not doing that after I have gone.”
