Nigerian singer, Omoniyi Temidayo Raphael, popularly known as Zlatan Ibile, has criticised people who behave awkwardly or excessively when they meet celebrities.
The “Zanku” crooner shared his thoughts on X while commenting on the way some fans become visibly starstruck in the presence of public figures.
Zlatan suggested that having a famous person within one’s family could make people more comfortable around celebrities and help them avoid what he described as embarrassing behaviour.
Zlatan speaks on celebrity encounters
The singer said he wished people who behaved awkwardly around celebrities had someone famous in their own households.
Zlatan explained that such familiarity could help normalise encounters with public figures and prevent people from becoming overwhelmed when they meet them.
He wrote, “I wish some of you had at least one celebrity in your family.”
The singer’s comment has drawn attention online, particularly among social media users who have witnessed fans becoming emotional, overly excited or uncomfortable when meeting celebrities.
Fans react to Zlatan’s comment
Zlatan’s observation has also prompted mixed reactions, with some people agreeing that fans can sometimes behave differently when they meet public figures they admire.
Others, however, argued that excitement around celebrities is normal, especially when fans are meeting their favourite stars in person for the first time.
The discussion highlights the different ways people respond to fame and celebrity encounters, with Zlatan’s comments adding to an ongoing conversation about fan behaviour around public figures.
