Tinubu lost 2023 election – Kwankwaso warns APC against underestimating 2027 poll, cites reasons

The Vice-Presidential Candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Party (NDC), Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has warned the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) against assuming that its growing political structure will guarantee victory in the 2027 presidential election.

Kwankwaso made the remarks while speaking at an ongoing town hall meeting in Rivers State, where he criticised the performance of the current administration and expressed concerns over the level of insecurity across the country.

According to the former Kano State governor, the ruling party could be making a major mistake by believing that having more than 30 governors means it cannot lose the next presidential election.

He also criticised politicians in the northern part of the country, claiming that some have performed poorly and may struggle to campaign openly ahead of the election.

Kwankwaso further alleged that Nigerians are unhappy with the current situation in the country, particularly due to the worsening insecurity.

“The sitting President, Tinubu, lost the 2023 election. Now, because they think they have over 30 governors, they think they cannot lose the 2027 presidential election.

It’s a very big mistake, especially those in the northern part of Nigeria who have performed woefully to the extent that it’s difficult for them to come out to campaign. People are very angry; insecurity is everywhere,” he said.

His comments come amid growing political activities and discussions ahead of the 2027 general elections, with opposition figures increasingly positioning themselves to challenge the ruling party.

Kwankwaso’s remarks have further fueled the debate over the APC’s chances of retaining the presidency and whether its current political strength will be enough to secure victory in 2027.
