Denmark has made it clear that obtaining an Establishment Card does not entitle foreign nationals to the same social benefits as local citizens.
The Danish authorities have issued information indicating which specific allowances and benefits are unavailable to persons awarded an Establishment Card, as well as family members who accompany the primary cardholder into the country.
Denmark’s establishment card benefit limits. Five types of benefits are explicitly excluded for Establishment Card holders.
They are:
- Cash benefits
- Rehabilitation benefits
- Self-sufficiency and return benefit
- Graduate allowances
- Transition benefit
The limits apply to everyone in this immigration group. According to the official guidance, “You have been granted an Establishment Card or are accompanying a family member to a person holding an Establishment Card.”
What the Denmark Establishment Card permits
The Establishment Card is a card provided by Denmark that allows talented foreign nationals to stay in the country for a length of time after finishing their studies or leaving their jobs to pursue entrepreneurial or business prospects.
While it establishes a legal foundation for remaining in Denmark, it does not grant access to the aforementioned social welfare provisions.
The release of this list serves as a practical reference for cards to grasp the scope of what their status covers, allowing them to arrange their budget without relying on governmental support services intended for other kinds of residents.
Residence Permit Requirements
Meanwhile, Denmark’s government has released the four extra requirements that foreigners must meet in order to be eligible for a permanent residence permit in as little as four years, lowering the standard eight-year waiting period.
