A victim of the alleged PXES Ponzi scheme has narrated how money set aside for a church harvest was allegedly lost after he invested it in the scheme.

The young man, who spoke in a viral video shared on social media, said he was introduced to the platform by his sister who reportedly convinced him that the scheme was legitimate.

According to him, he had been keeping the money because he was part of the church choir and intended to use it to purchase clothes for an upcoming harvest programme.

He said the harvest was only two weeks away when he decided to invest the money, believing he would make additional funds before the church event.

“Those people they do us wetin no good. Because e get one of my sister wey tell me say their pastor dey do that thing, say wetin make their pastor dey do that kind of thing, new say that thing is real.”

He explained that he eventually invested the money despite initially not having enough funds.

“Say make i come put money. E come be say I no come get money because be choir for my church. So we want do harvest. The money we want use buy clothes. The harvest remain two week.”

The victim said he had hoped the investment would generate returns that would increase the money available for the harvest.

“Na my hand de come de put am. I no go church yesterday na. So na de money na I come go put. Thinking say the money go bring another money wey go even plenty na him they come carry our money go.”

He alleged that when he attempted to withdraw his funds, he was asked to make another payment before the money could be released.

According to him, those behind the scheme claimed that the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) had instructed them to pay tax because of the volume of money being transferred outside the country.

“They come dey tell us before we see that our money collect, make we come put another money again before they fit release that one say CBN tell them say money wey dey go outside plenty and they must pay tax.”

The account has triggered reactions online, with some social media users questioning why money meant for a church programme was invested in a scheme promising high returns.
