Inde Navarrette was dead set on prioritizing her work while filming writer-director Curry Barker‘s horror sensation Obsession. Focus Features held a special screening of the movie at the Fine Arts Theatre in Beverly Hills on Wednesday, where Barker and Navarrette took the stage for a conversation following the film. During the discussion, the filmmaker expressed gratitude to the actress for giving her all in the role of Nikki, despite any potential for awkward moments as the character’s behavior gets more extreme and frightening. “There’s a lot of people there on the other side of that camera, and to ask her…
In the new documentary Lorne, a memorable scene sees Lorne Michaels, the Saturday Night Live creator and king of comedy, joining his friend Steve Martin for dinner at Orso in Manhattan. Over the meal, all caught on camera by documentarian Morgan Neville and his team, Martin presses Michaels on whether he will ever actually retire from SNL. Michaels suggests that, whatever his desires may be, he can’t. To protect SNL, and all of its absurd “wasteful” use of resources, he needs to stick around. Once Michaels is gone, all bets are off. Michaels, of course, rules NBC’s late night lineup.…

Odds are a giant inflatable Santa is looming near the entrance of a nearby big box hardware store as you read this. So Hallmark starting its annual “Countdown to Christmas” programming two-plus months out from the actual day is almost restrained. The cable and streaming outlet announced its full lineup — 34 original movies, plus three new episodes of the Mistletoe Murders series — for the season on Thursday. Her voice will forever be with us through our great recordings together, and she will…
South Park, one of the longest-running comedy series on television, returned to Comedy Central for its 29th season after making the unexpected move of changing the show’s name to “South America” — a gag that creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone announced as a possible marketing gimmick but is certainly also a jab at President Donald Trump. Wednesday night’s season premiere provided little explanation as to when and why the name change happened for the fictional Colorado town, but it does offer a vague metaphor for current U.S. politics around immigration. Seasons 27 and 28 of South Park had shifted…
